Art Roots
A Hands-On Creative Arts Class for Growing Grounded, Resilient Kids
A hands-on creative arts class where every young artist is welcomed exactly as they are, no experience or "talent" required. Unlike a traditional art class, the focus here isn't on technique or critique. It's on how making art can help a child feel calmer, more focused, and more at home in themselves.

Art Roots can be booked for schools, community organizations, homeschool groups, and families. Classes typically run 1 to 1.5 hours, once a week, at your school or site. For youth grades K-12.
Each Art Roots class invites young artists to explore a range of creative practices:
-
visual art and hands-on projects
-
writing and storytelling
-
music
-
dance, movement, and theater
-
mindfulness and breathing techniques
-
journaling practices young artists can return to again and again
Together, these practices offer a chance to step away from the pressures of school, screens, and everyday stress, and into a space built for creative play, self-expression, and rest.
Through this variety of art forms, artists are gently introduced to tools they can carry with them well beyond the classroom: ways to notice how they're feeling, calm their bodies and minds, and return to their day feeling more grounded.
Rooted in years of research and practice in the healing arts, Art Roots gives kids something rare: permission to slow down, make something meaningful, and leave class a little more resilient than when they walked in.
Art Roots is not art therapy. It's a creativity-based class designed with happy nervous systems in mind. Regardless of whether Art Roots students continue to pursue the arts as a hobby or career or they find their passion elsewhere, Art Roots will give them tools for finding calm, caring for their mental and emotional needs, and expressing themselves that can last a lifetime.
