All-Abilities Creative Movement and Music
A creative movement and music class open to participants of all abilities: built from the ground up to welcome every body and every voice.
Common Ground is playful, lighthearted, and open to everyone. Participants explore music and movement together in a shared, adaptive space, with activities designed to flex around each person's needs.
Nothing has a single right way to be done, so everyone can join in at their own pace and share their own creative voice.
A typical class includes:

open-ended, guided movement activities

a gentle stretch and warm-up that's friendly to all bodies

group music-making using improvisation and Shared Composition techniques

a choice of accessible instruments, including drums and other rhythm instruments

introductions to less familiar instruments such as the hand pan, ocean drum, and singing bowl, whose new sounds and sensations spark curiosity
The feel is a playful, lighthearted "drum circle" type of energy, with activities that are accessible to everyone and creatively engaging, so all participants can share their creative voice together.
No experience with music or movement is needed. Common Ground is for participants ages 13 and up, including elders. It's a creative movement and music class, not music or movement therapy. Common Ground is about giving everyone, regardless of their ability or disability status, a place to create and share the power of music and movement together.
Common Ground can be booked for schools, community organizations, homeschool groups, and families, and classes are hosted at your site. If you'd like to talk through what a particular participant or group needs, get in touch and we'll work it out together.
Sliding Scale Pricing
Common Ground is priced per hour on a three-tiered sliding scale based on who is booking. Materials are included. Choose the tier that best describes your school, group, or family:
Belonging: $55 per hour. Small nonprofits, Title I schools, and groups where most paying participants qualify for OHP or SNAP.
Sustaining: $65 per hour. Larger nonprofits, non-Title I schools, and groups and families for whom the standard rate fits.
Supporting: $75 per hour. For-profit and well-funded organizations.
