Professional Development

Workshops and Trainings for Teachers, Artists, Healthcare Professionals, and Organizations

Workshops and trainings for teachers, artists, healthcare workers, businesses, and community nonprofits who want to bring creative practice into their work. Grounded in the arts, improvisation, and mindfulness, and shaped around what your group needs.

Creativity isn't only for the studio or the stage. The same ways of thinking that help an artist compose a piece of music or shape a dance can help a teacher plan a lesson, a team solve a problem, a healthcare worker encounter a patient through curiosity and creativity, or an organization see its work in a new light.

My professional development offerings draw on years of experience as a composer, choreographer, writer, teacher, healing arts practitioner, and artist-in-medicine and on my certification as a mindfulness and meditation teacher.

Topics include:

  • Creativity in your work. Translating artistic and compositional thinking into any professional context.

  • Feedback and revision. Giving, receiving, and using critique in ways that keep creative work moving.

  • Improvisation. Listening, flexibility, and responding in the moment, as practical tools for creative and professional problem-solving.

  • Mindfulness for work with youth. Playful, arts-based ways to bring mindfulness into the classroom and other youth settings.

  •

Professional development is for:

  • teachers and educators

  • artists and other creative practitioners

  • Healthcare workers

  • businesses and teams

  • community nonprofits

Workshops can be a single session or a series, in person in Portland or online, and I may be available to travel. Nothing here is one-size-fits-all. If you have a goal or a challenge in mind, I'm glad to build something around it.
